Phang Nga Bay is a unique landscape of limestone karsts rising sheer from emerald water. Its icon is Khao Phing Kan, “James Bond Island”, with the Ko Tapu pinnacle featured in the 1974 film. The national park also protects mangroves and caves that can only be explored by canoe.
Typical itinerary
- Hotel pickup and speedboat departure from Phuket’s east coast.
- Guided canoeing (a local paddler paddles for you) through caves and hongs, hidden lagoons ringed by cliffs, at Koh Panak or Koh Hong.
- Visit to James Bond Island.
- Lunch at the Muslim floating village of Koh Panyee.
- Swim stop at a beach and return.
Who it is for
All ages. No effort required: the paddler handles the canoe. Access to the lagoons depends on the tide, so the order of stops may change.
What to bring
- Swimsuit, towel and light clothes.
- Sunscreen, hat and dry bag.
- Cash for the national park fee if not included.
Best time: November to April, with calm seas. In the rainy season the trip usually runs, but with more swell.
