Plan a bachelor or bachelorette boat trip in Ibiza, Croatia or the BVI: costs per person, a day-by-day itinerary, cabins, kitty and packing tips.
Another Nashville weekend? Another Scottsdale pool party? If your group chat is ready for something bigger, a bachelor or bachelorette boat trip is the upgrade: a private yacht, a skipper, your best people and a different beach every day. Wake up, jump off the back of the boat, sail to lunch, dance at sunset, repeat.
This guide shows you how to plan a sailing week for a bachelor or bachelorette party in 2027: where to go, what it really costs per person, a day-by-day Ibiza itinerary, and the practical stuff (cabins, kitty, dress code, what to pack) that makes or breaks a group trip.
Why a boat beats a rental house
- Your “house” moves. Every morning you wake up somewhere new: a turquoise cove, a harbor town, a beach club bay.
- Nobody has to drive. A licensed skipper handles the sailing, the anchoring and the route. No sailing experience needed, and no designated driver.
- Built-in privacy. Your own floating party venue, with no neighbors complaining about the speaker at midnight.
- The photos. Matching swimsuits on a catamaran trampoline will outperform anything shot at a bottomless brunch.
- Cost per person is close to a nice Airbnb. Split between 8–12 friends, the boat, skipper and accommodation together are often under $1,000 each.

Ibiza and Formentera: the ultimate party week
Nowhere does a celebration like Ibiza. By day you anchor off Formentera’s Ses Illetes, a strip of white sand often compared to the Caribbean. By night you go ashore for the island’s world-famous clubs. Clubs typically open their seasons in May and hold closing parties from late September into early October. Big bonus for 2027: United launches the first-ever nonstop flight from the US to Ibiza, from Newark, starting May 31, 2027, four times a week.
Mallorca and Menorca: elegant and laid-back
For a bachelorette that leans more “linen and rosé” than “foam party,” Mallorca and Menorca deliver pine-fringed coves, Palma’s tapas bars and the protected Cabrera archipelago. Palma has seasonal nonstops from Newark.
Croatia: Split and Hvar
Hvar town’s harbor is one of Europe’s best-known summer party spots, and the surrounding Pakleni islands are made for swim stops. Our Split and Hvar week opens in 2027 from $980 per person in a cabin or $6,930 for the boat, the best value in this list, and United flies nonstop Newark–Split in summer.
The BVI: rum and reggae, no transatlantic flight
If the group cannot spare the jet lag, the British Virgin Islands are a short flight from the East Coast to St. Thomas. Days are snorkeling The Indians and the caves at Norman Island; nights are beach bars on Jost Van Dyke, birthplace of the Painkiller cocktail at the Soggy Dollar Bar. Perfect for a winter or spring bachelor party.
Just one day? Marbella
Not everyone can do a full week. A Marbella day charter from Puerto Banús is $760 for the boat, a great add-on to a Costa del Sol long weekend.

- Day 1 · EivissaBoard from 5 pm, safety briefing, welcome drinks on deck, dinner and first night out in Ibiza town.
- Day 2 · Ses Illetes, FormenteraShort sail to the most famous beach in the Balearics. Paddleboards, sandbar lounging, sunset swim.
- Day 3 · Cala SaonaLazy morning, lunch at a beach restaurant, golden-hour photo shoot on the cliffs.
- Day 4 · Es VedràSail past Ibiza’s mystical rock island, snorkel in clear water, quiet night at anchor to recover.
- Day 5 · Cala ComteCrystal water and one of the island’s best sunset spots. Pre-party on board.
- Day 6 · Sant AntoniThe sunset strip, then the big night out. Your skipper keeps the boat safe in harbor.

Your skipper adapts the route to the wind and the energy level of the group. If day 4 needs to be a full recovery day, that is what it becomes.
Ibiza is bookable now for summer 2027: grab the whole boat for your crew before the peak weeks go.
Book the Ibiza sailing weekWhat it really costs per person
Here is a realistic budget for 10 friends taking the whole boat in Ibiza for a week. The boat price includes the skipper; the kitty covers groceries, drinks on board, fuel and marina fees.
That is about $1,550 per person before flights. Club tickets and beach-club spending in Ibiza vary wildly, so treat the allowance as a starting point and agree on it as a group before anyone books.
Smaller group? Do not pay for empty berths. Book individual cabins on a shared boat instead: from $1,310 per person in Ibiza and $870 in Croatia.
How to plan it without losing friends
1. Lock the date and the group early
Peak summer weeks in Ibiza and Croatia, and spring weeks in the Caribbean, go first. Pick the week the couple can do, send a deadline and collect deposits. With us, a deposit of about $220 per person holds a spot, and the balance is paid in installments until 60 days before departure.
2. Assign cabins fairly
Most catamarans have four to six double cabins, often with their own bathroom. Give the guest of honor the best one, pair people up early and settle the “who shares with whom” question before anyone is on board.
3. Agree on the kitty
The kitty, a shared fund for food, drinks, fuel and marinas, usually lands around $165–$275 per person per week (€150–250). Use one shared expense app. One treasurer, no drama.
4. Add the extras that make it special
- A chef or host on board so nobody is cooking hungover.
- A photographer and drone for one golden-hour session.
- Beach-club and party bookings, so the big night is sorted.
- Water toys: paddleboards, a floating mat, snorkel gear.
- Airport transfers and a hotel night before or after.
5. Mind the boat rules
Glass and sharp heels do not mix with teak decks, so plan on plastic cups and bare feet. The skipper has the final say on safety, including when to swim and when the music goes off in a quiet anchorage. Respect the neighbors and you will be welcomed back.
When to go: timing your bach trip
Most weddings happen between May and October, which means most bach parties land in spring and early summer. That lines up nicely with two windows:
- March to May in the Caribbean. Spring weather, warm water and the end of the high season. Perfect for a bachelor party a couple of months before a summer wedding.
- June and September in the Mediterranean. Warm sea, long evenings, the clubs in full swing, but fewer crowds and slightly lower prices than July and August.
Peak weeks in July and August in Ibiza and Hvar are electric, but busier and more expensive ashore. If your group is mostly about the beach clubs and nightlife, that energy is part of the appeal. If it is more about the swimming, the food and each other, the shoulder months win.
Keeping it fun and safe
Boats and parties go together beautifully, as long as everyone respects a few simple rules. Your skipper will brief you on day one, but here is the short version:
- No swimming after drinking at night. Night swims off the back of the boat are the most common way a great trip goes wrong.
- Dinghy rides ashore are the skipper’s call. If they say a water taxi is the better option tonight, take the water taxi.
- Hydrate and use sunscreen. The sun on the water is stronger than it feels, and day two’s sunburn will ruin day three’s photos.
- Look after the quiet ones. Not every guest wants to party every night. Build in a calm evening at anchor; it often ends up being everyone’s favorite.
Plan one “big night” and one “recovery day” back to back. The skipper can schedule an easy sail and a sheltered swim spot for the morning after, so nobody misses the best beach of the week.
Handling different budgets in the group
Bach parties often mix friends at very different stages of life. A few ways to keep it inclusive:
- Share the full per-person estimate (boat, kitty, flights, allowance) before asking for deposits.
- Use installments: paying the balance in chunks until 60 days before makes a bigger trip manageable.
- Keep the kitty for shared essentials and make club tickets or premium dinners opt-in.
- Choose Croatia or Mallorca over the Caribbean if the budget is tight; the boat costs less per person.
- Remember the free date change up to 90 days before, which helps if the wedding date moves.
Packing list for a party at sea
- Soft duffel bag, not a hard suitcase: storage on board is tight.
- Three or four swimsuits (they never dry overnight).
- Reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and polarized sunglasses.
- One “big night” outfit plus flat shoes for the dinghy ride ashore.
- Matching theme outfits or custom tees, if that is your crew.
- Seasickness tablets or bands, just in case.
- A waterproof phone pouch and a small Bluetooth speaker.
- Passport (for anywhere except Maine) and travel insurance details.
What life on board is actually like
Never been on a sailing catamaran? Picture a floating villa. A typical charter cat has four to six double cabins in the two hulls, several compact bathrooms, a big shared saloon and galley, a shaded cockpit for meals and a front trampoline that becomes everyone’s favorite place to nap. Your skipper usually sleeps in a small separate crew cabin.
Space is cozy, not cramped, which is exactly why packing light matters. Fresh water is limited, so showers are quick, and power comes from the boat’s batteries and generator, so a few phone chargers are fine but hair straighteners are best left at home. Most guests adapt within a day and quickly discover that a swim is the best shower anyway.
Evenings are flexible. Some nights you will be in a harbor or marina with restaurants and nightlife a short walk away; others you will be on anchor or on a mooring in a quiet bay, with the dinghy as your taxi to shore. A good mix of both is what makes a sailing week feel like two vacations in one: the big nights out and the starry, silent anchorages in between. Tell your skipper on day one how your group likes to balance the two, and they will build the route around it.
Bachelor party vs bachelorette: what changes?
Honestly, less than you would think. Both groups want great beaches, a big night out and good food. Bachelor groups often add fishing, wakeboarding or a diving day; bachelorettes more often add a photographer, yoga on deck or a wine tasting ashore. Mixed “bach” parties for both sides are increasingly popular, and a 12-person catamaran is the perfect size. See what is possible on a celebration week, or go all in with a party and festival week.
Beyond the bach party
Same format, different occasion: milestone birthdays, divorce parties, reunions and anniversaries all work beautifully on a boat. And once the wedding is done, there is our romance week for the honeymoon.
