One day isn’t enough to feel the calm of Guna Yala. On this 2-day, 1-night stay you sleep on an island run by a Guna family, in a simple cabin by the water, and visit several islands, natural pools and sandbanks by boat.
How the trip works
- Early pick-up in Panama City and 4×4 to Cartí.
- Boat to your island and an afternoon of beach and snorkeling.
- Fish or chicken dinner and a night under the stars.
- Day two island hopping and return in the afternoon.
Who it is for
Travellers seeking a total switch-off who are happy with rustic lodging: shared bathrooms, limited electricity and little or no phone signal. It is part of the experience in an autonomous Indigenous territory.
What to bring
- Passport (checked at the entry to the comarca).
- US dollars in cash for the Guna fee and extras.
- Torch, repellent, sunscreen and a dry bag.
Best time
The dry season, December to May, brings more sun and a calmer boat ride. In the rainy season showers come and go, but the islands stay beautiful.
