The Aqua Safari is the easiest way to see the floor of the Bora Bora lagoon. You wear a helmet supplied with air from the surface, so you breathe normally and your face stays dry, even with glasses on.
What you do
- Boat transfer to a platform anchored in the lagoon.
- Safety briefing and helmet fitting.
- Walk on the sandy bottom at about 3-4 metres, led by an instructor.
- Watch tropical fish come close, with optional underwater photos.
Who it is for
Anyone from about 7 years old, even non-swimmers or people who dislike putting their head under water. Ideal for families and older travelers in good health.
What to bring
- Swimwear and a towel.
- Reef-safe sunscreen.
- Prescription glasses if needed: you can wear them inside the helmet.
Best time
All year, with the lagoon at 26-29 °C. Morning departures usually have the best underwater light.
Good to know
No certification is required. Coral is not touched and fish are not fed. Some health conditions, such as ear problems, may rule it out; check before booking. Groups are small and each walk lasts about 30 minutes.
