Falls of Baleine Boat Trip, St Vincent

Falls of Baleine Boat Trip, St Vincent

Cruise St Vincent’s leeward coast to a 20-metre waterfall reachable only by sea. With snorkeling and Pirates of the Caribbean stops.

The Falls of Baleine, at the northern tip of St Vincent, is a waterfall of about 20 metres dropping into a freshwater pool below La Soufrière volcano. It can only be reached by sea, which makes the journey part of the experience.

The day

  • Cruise along the leeward coast, often with dolphin sightings.
  • Pass Wallilabou Bay, a Pirates of the Caribbean film set.
  • Land and take a short river walk to the falls; swim in the pool.
  • Snorkel on the way back at a reef such as Petit Byahaut or Indian Bay.

Who it is for

Families and active travelers. The landing may be on a beach with some surf and the path is rocky, so it is not suitable for reduced mobility.

What to bring

  • Water shoes or strapped sandals.
  • Swimwear, towel and a dry bag.
  • Mosquito repellent.

Best time

December to June. After heavy rain the falls are more spectacular, but access may close if the river is high.

Good to know

It is a great option if your flight lands in St Vincent a day before boarding. The leeward coast is sheltered from the trade wind, so the ride is usually comfortable.

Included

  • Boat with captain and guide
  • Site entry
  • Snorkel gear
  • Light lunch and drinks
