Vava’u is one of the South Pacific’s best sea kayaking destinations: more than 50 islands divided by sheltered channels, turquoise water and very little boat traffic. On this day trip you paddle with a guide around the Port of Refuge and the islands near Neiafu.
How the day works
- Departure from Neiafu after a technique and safety briefing.
- Relaxed paddling between islands and coral cliffs.
- Snorkel stops on shallow reefs.
- Lunch on a deserted beach and return in the afternoon.
Who it is for
Anyone of average fitness; no experience needed. Double kayaks are very stable and the guide adjusts the distance to the group. Multi-day expeditions with island camping are also available.
What to bring
- Swimwear, rash guard and a hat.
- Reef-safe sunscreen and sunglasses with a strap.
- A dry bag for your phone.
Best time
May to November, with moderate trade winds and less rain. In whale season (July–October) you may hear or spot them in the distance from your kayak.
