Antigua is said to have 365 beaches, one for every day of the year. The easiest way to see many in a day is the catamaran cruise that circles the whole island, departing from Dickenson Bay, Jolly Harbour or St. John’s.
Typical itinerary
- West and south coasts: Jolly Harbour, Darkwood and Cades Reef, the island’s largest reef, for snorkelling.
- English Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard (UNESCO World Heritage) from the sea, with views of Shirley Heights.
- The wilder east coast, with Devil’s Bridge and Half Moon Bay.
- Beach and swim stop at Green Island or Bird Island.
Who it is for
Everyone. Ideal as a first day in Antigua or for anyone not sailing a full week. Music, relaxed atmosphere and local crew.
What to bring
- Swimwear, towel, reef-safe sunscreen and a hat.
- A light jacket: the trade wind blows on the east coast.
Best time
November to June. In big swell, the captain may stick to the west and south coasts.
