The southwest coast of Paros, facing Antiparos, gets the meltemi almost every summer day. At Pounda the wind blows side-shore and the water stays shallow for a long way out, ideal conditions to take your first steps in kitesurfing or to progress if you already ride.
How the lesson works
- Safety theory, wind window and equipment set-up.
- Kite control on land and body drag in the water.
- First rides on the board (waterstart) when your instructor judges it safe.
- Radio helmet communication for more advanced lessons.
Who it is for
Anyone aged 12+ who can swim. No experience needed: most students are riding after a 6 to 9 hour course. If you already kite, book single coaching hours or supervised rental instead.
What to bring
- Swimwear, towel, water-resistant sunscreen and sunglasses with a strap.
- Water and a snack; kiting is more tiring than it looks.
Best time
From June to September the meltemi is at its most consistent (often 15-25 knots). May and October bring gentler days, perfect for beginners. Lesson times are set each day according to the forecast.
Combine it with your week
If you sail with us between Paros and Antiparos, the boat can anchor near Pounda so you take your lesson in the morning and continue the route in the afternoon. It also works well on your arrival or departure day on the island.
Included
- IKO or VDWS certified instructor
