South of Koh Samui lies a small group of quiet islands with white beaches and shallow water that you can visit in a morning or an afternoon. This Koh Madsum and Koh Tan speedboat tour is the easiest way to see them.
What you do
- Leave by speedboat from Samui’s south coast, just minutes from the islands.
- Snorkel the reefs of Koh Tan, with parrotfish, clownfish and hard corals.
- Spend time on Koh Madsum, known as Pig Island for the pigs that roam its beach. We recommend watching them without feeding them.
- Walk up to the viewpoint, kayak along the shore and swim in turquoise water.
- Enjoy a Thai lunch or dinner on the island.
Who it is for
Families, couples and anyone looking for a short, relaxed outing. The crossing is brief, which makes it ideal if you get seasick on longer trips. It is not suitable for pregnant women or babies under one year old.
What to bring
Swimwear, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, water shoes and 50 THB in cash for the island entrance fee.
Best time
January to October, with the calmest seas from February to April. In November the northeast monsoon rains arrive and some trips are cancelled. Morning and afternoon departures are available.
