Penobscot Bay, with its sheltered harbours at Camden and Rockport, is a natural sailing school: steady wind, nearby islands and a long maritime tradition. In this three-hour private lesson a certified instructor teaches you the essentials on a small keelboat or a day-sailer.
What you will learn
- Parts of the boat, basic knots and safety on board.
- How to read the wind, trim the sails and make tacks and gybes.
- Helming and man-overboard drills.
- Leaving and returning to the dock or mooring.
Who it is for
Complete beginners, couples who want to take a more active part in their sailing week and racers returning after years away. Private lesson for 1 or 2 people; children can join with an adult. The pace is entirely yours.
What to bring
- Layers, a rain jacket and a cap.
- Non-marking, non-slip shoes.
- Sailing gloves if you have them, water and sunscreen.
