Hvar has a winemaking tradition going back more than two thousand years, and a Hvar wine tasting tour is the best way to discover it. We drive through the island’s interior, past vineyards, olive groves and lavender fields, to the UNESCO-listed Stari Grad Plain and the southern slopes where Plavac Mali grapes grow.
What you do
- Visit family-run wineries and hear from the producers themselves.
- Taste Plavac Mali reds and Pošip and Bogdanjuša whites.
- Sample the island’s extra virgin olive oil with bread and snacks.
- Stop at viewpoints and inland villages along the way.
Who it is for
Wine and food lovers aged 18 and over. You do not need to know about wine, as the producers explain everything simply. It is an ideal plan for a windy day when sailing is less appealing, or as a relaxed afternoon after a morning swim in the Pakleni Islands.
What to bring
Comfortable clothes, sunglasses and some cash if you want to buy bottles directly from the winery.
Best time
April to October, with morning and afternoon departures. September brings the grape harvest, and the lavender blooms in June.
Included
