South Tenerife is one of Europe’s best places to try diving in winter: water stays around 18–19 °C even in the coolest months, and the coast of Costa Adeje and Playa San Juan has volcanic seabeds full of life. In several spots sea turtles are a common sight.
How it works
- Theory briefing at the dive center and equipment fitting.
- Skills practice in shallow water.
- A dive of 30–45 minutes to a maximum of 12 metres, from boat or shore.
- A certified instructor beside you for the entire dive.
What you can see
Volcanic rock, sand, rays, trumpetfish, octopus and, quite often, turtles. Remember: wildlife is observed without touching or feeding.
Who it is for
Anyone aged 10 or over who can swim and wants a safe first experience. A standard medical questionnaire is completed beforehand and, depending on your answers, a doctor’s approval may be required.
What to bring
- Swimwear and a towel.
- A sweatshirt for afterwards: winter breezes are cool.
Best time to go
All year round. From November to April, our sailing season, the water is a little cooler but visibility is usually very good. Do not fly for 12–24 hours after diving, and do not go up Mount Teide on the same day as a dive.
Included
- Certified instructor
- Full equipment including wetsuit
- Introductory dive
- Dive insurance
