The Cayos Holandeses are the outermost island group in Guna Yala: crystal water, palm trees and reefs sheltered by the outer barrier. This boat trip leaves from your island and combines several snorkelling spots, including a small shallow wreck and the famous natural pool.
What you do
- Morning departure by Guna boat with a local skipper.
- Reef snorkelling and a shallow wreck.
- Fish lunch, or lobster in season, on a cay.
- Back to your island in the afternoon.
Who it is for
Swimmers who are comfortable in the water. Scuba diving is not allowed in the comarca, so snorkelling is the best way to see the reef. The lobster closed season from March to May is respected.
What to bring
- Your own mask and snorkel if you have them.
- Reef-safe sunscreen and a rash guard.
- Cash for island fees.
Best time
From May to November the sea is usually calmer for reaching the outer cays; strong trade winds from January to March can cancel the trip.
