Shared tours follow fixed and busy routes. With a private boat you choose where to stop and how long to stay. Captains are from the Guna community and know the passes between reefs, so they can take you to remote spots such as the Cayos Holandeses or Coco Bandero, with deep turquoise water and few people.
Route ideas
- The Natural Pool to see starfish in waist-deep water.
- Snorkelling on the Cayos Holandeses reef, with turtles and rays.
- Lobster or fish lunch on an inhabited island (paid locally).
- Isla Perro and its small wreck, perfect for a last swim.
Who it is for
Groups of up to 10 staying on an island or arriving from Cartí, and sailboat crews who want to explore without moving their own boat.
What to bring
- Your own snorkel gear if you have it.
- Cash in US dollars: each island charges a small visiting fee.
- Sunscreen, cap and dry bag.
Best time: December to April. With strong trade winds the outer cays can be choppy and the captain will adapt the route.
