Raja Ampat has the highest recorded diversity of reef corals and fish in the world. The Dampier Strait, between Waigeo and Batanta, holds many of its most famous sites and is reachable on day trips from Kri, Gam or Waisai.
How the trip works
- Morning departure on a dive speedboat.
- Two guided dives at sites such as Cape Kri, Sardine Reef, Blue Magic or the Manta Sandy cleaning station, depending on currents and level.
- Surface interval on a beach or on board, with drinks and snacks.
Who it is for
Certified Open Water divers. For current sites, Advanced level and a reef hook are recommended. Small groups of about 4 divers per guide.
What to bring
Certification card, logbook, dive insurance, reef-safe sunscreen and a warm layer. Gear can be rented.
Best time
October to April, with calmer seas. The Raja Ampat marine park entry fee is mandatory for all visitors and not included; we can arrange it for you.
Good to know: Raja Ampat is remote: fly into Sorong and take the ferry to Waisai with plenty of margin. Dive centers carry oxygen on board, but the nearest hyperbaric chamber is far away, so it pays to dive conservatively and to carry valid dive insurance.
Included
- 2 guided dives
- Dive speedboat
- Tanks and weights
- Water, coffee and snacks
