Kabui Bay, between Waigeo and Gam islands, is one of the most photogenic landscapes in Raja Ampat: dozens of sea-eroded limestone islets like giant jungle-covered mushrooms. It is also a highly recommended alternative to Wayag, which the local community has closed to visitors.
Itinerary
- Cruise among the Kabui islets and the Batu Pensil rock.
- Ancient rock paintings on the limestone walls, seen from the boat.
- Snorkeling at the Friwen wall or nearby reefs.
- Swim at Pasir Timbul, a white sandbar that appears at low tide.
Who it is for
Families, couples and groups of up to eight. No snorkeling experience needed; vests are available for everyone.
What to bring
Swimwear, towel, reef-safe sunscreen, cap and cash for small community fees.
Best time: October to April. Timing follows the tide so Pasir Timbul is above water.
All visitors need the Raja Ampat Marine Park permit, paid once and valid for the whole year.
