Raja Ampat Snorkeling Tour: Arborek & Mantas

One of the world’s best snorkeling experiences: Arborek jetty, shallow reefs of the Dampier Strait and, with luck, mantas from the surface.

In Raja Ampat you do not need to dive to see a spectacular reef. Many of the best spots lie one or two metres below the surface, and this trip is designed to enjoy them by snorkeling.

What you will do

  • Snorkel under Arborek jetty, with schooling fish, corals and batfish.
  • Shallow reefs around islands such as Friwen, Yenbuba or Kri.
  • In season, a chance to see mantas from the surface at spots like Manta Sandy, following no-touch, no-chase rules.
  • A short visit to Arborek village, known for its handicrafts.

Who it is for

For confident basic swimmers. The guide swims with you and briefs you before each stop. Life jackets available.

What to bring

Rash guard or long-sleeve top, reef-safe sunscreen, towel, dry bag and cash for community fees. You can bring your own mask if you prefer.

Best time

October to April, with calmer water; mantas are more frequent from October to March, though not guaranteed. Marine park fee not included.

Guides follow the local manta code of conduct: keep a minimum distance, never block their path and do not use flash.

Included

  • Shared speedboat
  • Snorkel guide
  • Mask, snorkel, fins and life jacket
  • Light lunch and water

FAQs

Do I need to dive?

No, everything is done snorkeling from the surface.

Are mantas guaranteed?

Can children come?

Yes, if comfortable in the water and wearing a life jacket.
