The vineyards of Primošten are among the most photographed farming landscapes in Croatia: thousands of small plots enclosed by dry-stone walls, built by hand to protect the vines on rocky ground by the sea. This is where Babić, a native red variety of Dalmatia, is grown.
What the tasting involves
- Visit to a family winery in the Primošten or Šibenik area.
- An introduction to the history of the stone vineyards and how Babić is made.
- Tasting of 4–5 wines, including Babić and local whites such as Debit or Maraština.
- Pairing with Dalmatian pršut ham, cheese, olive oil and home-made bread.
Who it is for
Wine lovers, couples and groups who want to discover Dalmatian food and drink. Over-18s only for the tasting itself. It pairs well with a stop in Primošten during a sailing week.
What to bring
- Comfortable shoes if visiting the vineyard.
- A hat in summer.
- A transport plan: if you drink, do not drive (an optional transfer is available).
Best time to go
May to September. In late August and September the harvest approaches and the wineries are at their busiest. Late-afternoon tastings are the most pleasant, as the heat drops and the light over the vineyards is softer.
